About Me

I am Jano, and since 2020 I have been carrying out hazardous tree removals, tree felling, and tree pruning, primarily in Košice, Gelnica, Prešov, and the surrounding areas. This is my home territory, where I can respond the quickest. However, if a tree is particularly tall, complex, or simply one where there is no room for error, I am willing to travel further – for example to Poprad, Spišská Nová Ves, Michalovce, Rožňava, or Kežmarok. I specialise in trees located near houses, roofs, fences, and utility lines – situations where every cut matters. I work personally, sometimes together with an experienced ground worker when required, and I always choose an approach that is safe for both people and property.

There is no single solution that works for every tree. Not every tree can simply be cut down from the ground – why a tree cannot always be felled from the base. Likewise, shortening the top of a tree (topping) does not solve the problem – why topping trees is a bad idea.

For this reason, I carefully assess every job before deciding on the best method. My goal is always to minimise risk and prevent unnecessary damage. View my services or contact me.

I continuously expand my knowledge through professional arboriculture courses, including training provided by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA).

“I approach trees with respect. I don’t take unnecessary risks – crown first, trunk second.”

Jano – the guy who climbs your trees

I work with certified safety systems, use quiet and powerful battery-powered chainsaws where they make sense, and lower branches using ropes to prevent damage to roofs, fences, or vehicles.

How I Work

  • Inspection & planning: I assess the tree, surroundings, and risks, then we agree on the safest approach.
  • Safety & rigging: climbing into the canopy, making precise cuts, and lowering sections using ropes.
  • Clean worksite: I leave the area tidy; biomass removal is arranged upon agreement.
  • Communication: I schedule the work and coordinate equipment access if needed.

What I (Deliberately) Don’t Do

  • No risky shortcuts: if conditions are too windy, stormy, or icy, I reschedule the work.
  • No unsafe improvisation: no ladders balanced on fences – I climb safely using proper rope systems.
  • No rule-bending: when permits are required, I help you handle them correctly.

Equipment I Rely On

  • certified ropes, prusiks, carabiners, and helmet
  • professional high-performance battery-powered chainsaws (quiet and garden-friendly), and petrol equipment when needed
  • rigging systems for safe lowering of heavier tree sections

Frequently Asked Questions About Tree Removal

How much does tree removal cost?

The price depends on the size of the tree, site accessibility, and job complexity. I can usually provide an estimated price after you send a photo of the tree or after an inspection. Quotes are free.

Is a permit required for tree removal?

Yes, in most cases a permit from the municipality or local authority is required, unless the tree is located on private residential property and qualifies for legal exemptions. I’m happy to advise whether a permit is needed. It is also important to know that if the tree stands on municipal or third-party property, the removed wood does not belong to me or the client. Ownership of the timber remains with the landowner. That is why I never remove trees illegally — I only perform removals where everything is properly approved and agreed with the rightful owner, or where the work is fully compliant with applicable legislation.

Do you remove branches and timber as well?

Yes, by agreement. Branches and timber can be left on site, cut into firewood, or removed. Please note that removal involves additional labour and transport costs (trailer or van, fuel, disposal). We always agree in advance what is included in the base price and what is considered an extra service.

What if the tree is close to a house or poses a risk of damage?

Almost every tree can be removed safely, even in risky locations — I dismantle trees gradually, section by section, using rope rigging systems. However, if the tree is in an extreme position, for example when a large portion of the canopy extends directly over a roof and the only safe option would be a crane, I usually do not take on that type of work. Safety and reliability always take priority over risk-taking.
